Vienna, 25.03.2022.
On Thursday, 24 March 2022, the Ministry of Climate Protection (BMK) awarded 20 domestic companies for their extraordinary commitment to energy efficiency at the first Austrian Sustainability Summit. commitment to energy efficiency.
Klimaaktiv, the climate protection project of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management, is once again awarding prizes to industrial and commercial enterprises from all over Austria who reduce their consumption of fossil fuels and at the same time use energy as efficiently as possible. Through the implemented measures, the award-winning companies save 25 million.
We need to act now to protect ourselves from the consequences of climate change, and that is what we hope to achieve. We need investment in climate protection and swift action now. Only in this way can we break free from dependence on oil and gas and build a sustainable business location in Austria. On the one hand, these flagship companies have recognised.
"On the contrary, their great commitment strengthens our domestic economy and makes us more crisis-proof," says Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler. "The domestic companies have a key role to play on the way to a sustainable a sustainable, climate-neutral Austria," she adds.
With this award, the BMK recognises both successful measures taken by Austrian industrial and commercial enterprises and dynamic action plans of new and existing klimaaktiv project partners.

Energy policy statement
The continuous improvement of energy efficiency and the contribution to climate protection are deeply rooted at Rattpack.
Since 2014, RATTPACK®has been certified according to the energy management standard ISO 50001 and the environmental management standard ISO 14001. Central elements of these management systems are the anchoring of goals and strategies with the management as well as the implementation of a continuous improvement process in the form of a PDCA cycle. in the form of a PDCA cycle. In addition, Rattpack has been a member of the Vorarlberg Energy Efficiency Networks since 2014, which meet 3 to 4 times a year to exchange information on selected topics of industrial energy efficiency. selected topics of industrial energy efficiency.
Efficiency measures and action plan 2030
In the last 10-15 years, the company has continuously implemented measures to increase energy efficiency. Particularly noteworthy are measures such as the renewal of the thermal oil boiler, which was which was reduced in size compared to the existing boiler and equipped with an internal heat recovery system and a regulated burner.
A significant energy consumer at RATTPACK® is the movement of air. In this area, the existing drives are drives are continuously modernised with FI controls and IE4 motors. Likewise, the lighting is continuously being converted to LED.
The possibility of using groundwater allows cost- and energy-efficient building cooling and, in some areas, process cooling. Where possible, systems for heat recovery and waste heat and waste heat recovery are used wherever possible. These are installed in the compressed air compressors and in production and exhaust air purification processes.
The share of PV electricity is currently in the range of 4 %. This electricity is used 100 % at the site. An expansion of the plant by 500 to 600 kWp is being considered.
Measures submitted to klimaaktiv and awarded so far:
2009: Optimisation of heat generation (260,000 kWh/a)
2009: Optimisation of compressed air generation (135,000 kWh/a)
2017: Boiler replacement for optimal heat supply (1,228,000 kWh/a)
2021: Closed-loop heat recovery system (720,000 kWh/a)
2021: Heat recovery lamination (180,000 kWh/a)
Action plan 2030
With the 2030 action plan, RATTPACK® is demonstrating its ongoing efforts to improve energy efficiency and increase the share of renewable energy sources in the company. renewable energy sources in the company. In this way, the company supports the path towards climate neutrality in 2040.
Milestones 2030
Switch to 100% green electricity from Austria
Electrification of the vehicle fleet
Tapping waste heat potential from thermal processes for space heating
Extension of the PV system
Use of a further heat pump for space heating
The development of possibilities for CO2-free process heat supply are continuously monitored and evaluated with regard to an economically viable implementation.
